SEA VALLEY BUNGALOWS

SEA VALLEY BUNGALOWS

You’re a fan of chilled-out beach-bumming with a side option of convenient luxury? Then this is the place for you. Located in the gorgeous, isolated Kabak valley near Fethiye, Sea Valley Bungalows was started around 2010 as just a few tents and small shops selling basics and has now developed into a collection of rustic bungalows (and a campsite) right next to the pristine beach at the entrance of Kabak’s bay.

In keeping with the hippy-esque nature of the area, the bungalows that have been developed here over the years are intentionally rustic and simply but comfortably furnished with air conditioning and spacious ensuite bathrooms. Some have outdoor seating areas and all come with wonderful views of the mountains or the sea. There’s also a tree-house for more adventurous souls and a camping area with associated amenities (hot water, toilets and shower, electricity).

All guests have access to the manifold natural charms of the hotel grounds, including the landscaped lawns that separate the bungalows, the wood-themed restaurant, the pretty swimming pool (which has its own bar), and recreational areas (table tennis, a kid’s playground, a yoga and meditation platform). The real high point is, of course, the beautiful beach which is ideal for daytime tanning (sunbeds available for guests) and swimming but also for sitting and watching the starry skies at night thanks to the lack of light pollution here.

The on-site restaurant serves a delicious buffet breakfast as well as local Turkish dishes and international cuisine throughout the day and evening, and the associated bar has a great range of drinks and light snacks: it’s a beautiful space to relax and watch the golden sun setting slowly out to sea.

Active types can hike up to the local waterfall, join a boat tour to explore the area’s amazing bays and islands, or hike to Butterfly Valley or Paradise Beach, both of which take a couple of hours and involve some pretty steep climbs. Also hidden up in the nearby hills are a surprising number of bars and clubs that come alive at night. These can involve a bit of hunting and climbing but it’s all good fun; pop in for a beer at the neighbouring Lülüth bar to find out more about the alternative scene.

If you feel the need for more activity, it’s easy to drive out and explore the nearby coastal region, including Fethiye, the Blue Lagoon, the abandoned village of Kayaköy, and the Saklıkent Canyon.
